But, but, but what if it’s more than that, what if it’s extra stretched skin that is left over. What I’ve read, Skin -- a living organism -- has a remarkable elasticity to it and if you lose weight not too fast and stay hydrated, then all should (or could) be good. Of course, this can all be affected by your age, (where the older we are -- oh no --- the less elastic the skin may be), the duration of time that someone carried the weight, and the total weight loss amount.
So how much weight loss before you start getting saggy skin? I googled it... and believe me there are some interesting pictures out there on what saggy skin looks like. The people that had 100+ pound weight loss were still pleased with their new bodies and associated health benefits even if they had saggy skin. Some opted for surgery - something I know nothing about.
But I think at my weight loss level, that with continued toning and weight training that I can get more to where I want to be.
It’s funny... last week I was in one of my (frequent) conversations with some gym buddies about my weight loss, and I mentioned that I still wanted to work on my spare tire and she immediately pinched her side and shared her spare tire.... This is someone who I never thought of as having any weight issues at all, but I guess perfection is a myth. Then I found a body builder site with some “keeping it real” pictures that showed not so flattering pictures taken the same week as the runway run. Also, last week I noticed a little more definition in my arms while trying on some sleveless workout shirts -- a very scary proposition for me --- I never, ever wear anything sleeveless!
Not sure where I’m going with all this... I do know that childbirth has forever altered at least one area of my anatomy which I don’t believe any amount of toning will completely recover -- and that’s okay. As for the potential of extra saggy skin, I’m not going to worry about it, and I am going to continue to work on toning. I absolutely know that nobody is perfect, and it’s pointless to aim for perfection; and much more realistic to aim for improvement...
So about those current trouble spots -- the rest of the spare tire and the arms? Goals are good - new defined goal. Tone and see where that takes me.
